教案示例 Unit 26 Lesson 102 Reading
Lesson objectives:
1.Students will be able to skim and read the passage and identify main ideas. ( Why and how Bob Geldof tried to help the poor people in Africa.
2.Students will scan the passage to find specific details.
Teaching aids: a computer, a recorder, two copies of a tape, an empty box, etc.
Teaching procedure:
A.Pre-reading
1.Revision
The modal verbs to show “certain”, “possible”, “impossible” will be revised in this step. Ask the Ss to tell which word shows we are quite sure about something? (must) If we are not quite sure, which words should we use? (may, might and could) What about in the negative sentences? (cant) ?Write down these words on the Bb. Then ask the students to answer questions choosing one of these words.
Question 1: (Picture 1) What can the student be doing?
(The student must be doing an experiment in the lab. )
Question 2: ( Picture 2 ) What can have happened ? ( An earthquake may have happened. )
Question 3: Can the student sitting in Line 3 Row 4 be Tom? (It must be Tom. )
Question 4: Can the student sitting in Line 3 be Tom? (It may be Tom. )
Question 5: ( an empty box) I dont know whether theres any chalk in the box. Now I shake it. Is there any chalk in it? (No sound) (There cant be any chalk in it. )
2.Presentation
Question 6: (Picture 3) What do you think about the food? (It must be delicious. )
Question 7: (Picture 4) What do you think about the mother and her children?
(They must be hungry. )
Question 8: Do you know where they live? (Africa. )
After asking about these questions, tell the Ss: Plenty of people in Africa are suffering from hunger and a number of them die from it each day. Do you think people should offer some help? A great many of people are trying to help them , one of whom is Bob Geldof , a pop star. Now lets read more about Bob Geldofs interesting life in Lesson 102.”
