I. Introduction 1.1Research Background With the development of globalization and China’s access to the WTO, the communication with foreign countries has been increasing day by day. As many of the business relations are conducted in the form of letters, the translation of business letters has become very important. In view of this, it is necessary to make some research about the translation of business letters in order to promote smooth development of China-foreign business relations. Nowadays business english is not only used by business people, but also non-businessmen. The words professional people tend to use and understanding when talking about their own or other peoples working lives might justifiably be defined asBusiness English. But such language is nowadays also widely used in contemporary industrial societies. Hence vocabulary like fax, report,customer,negotiating,and so on are words that practically every adult English speakers uses or understands-they are not specialized terms only used by business people. Presumably a ballet dancer or a forestry worker,but he or she would certainly have them at his or her disposal. Nowadays, business has become very common. Business letter has been a key tool for a company to do business with foreigners. In the aspect of theory research, many scholars have focused on the writing of business letters. There are 6Cs principles to write a good letter.They have discussed a lot about this. At the same time, some scholars have paid attention to the stylistic features of business letters and translation strategies. This topic will become more and more popular. I am sure more and more people will be interested in the translation of business letters.
