In modern time, people pay more and more attention on money instead of motions, especially family love. This paper aims to attract people’ motion, and hope people don’t treat money so important. At the first part, it will show a introduction of the paper. Next, it comes to the background of Charles Dickens, which includes three parts. They are social situation in that time, the main contents of the novel, and the purpose of the novel. Besides, this paper will present the conflict between money and family love in Dombey and Son. This part is also divided into three parts. The first part is Dombey’monetary view, which includes seeking heir and mould his son to be a capitalist like him. The second part is Dombey’ignorance of family love, which also have two parts that his apartness to Eades and consider his wife as tool of producing heir.
