Foreign Press Spring 2013 Course Goals To acquaint you with various types of print media Including how to find them and How to explain them to others Build your skills in determining bias and point of view Improve your reading ability and lexical knowledge Increase your critical thinking skills Broaden your awareness of current events What are we going to DO? Read a variety of texts that I bring to you Look for various stories online Report on them in writing or orally Talk a LOT about our opinions on what we read Helps you acquire the vocabulary and Articulate your ideas in English and Prepare you for the TEM Take 3-4 exams, maybe some quizzes How can I get a good grade? Study the vocabulary each week! They will be on the tests that are about every four weeks. These four tests ARE the FINAL EXAM. Practice working out your opinions in class. (Talk and think a lot.) The questions we discuss are practice for the exam. Do the homework well, and early. Last minute homework will kill your grade. Come to class. Participation is important too.
