7A Unit 1 This is me Integrated skills Background information: The students have known how to greet each other and to use simple present tense of the verb to be. Type of lesson: New lesson--- Integrated skills Teaching aims and learning objectives: a. To learn new words: dancing; swimming; age; looks; cute; hobby; glad b. To learn to catch the information from the listening text c. To develop students to listen, to speak, to read and to write d. To let students be full of self-confidence Teaching Contents: Integrated skills Focus of the lesson and predicted areas of difficulty: To make passages according to the key words Teaching aids: charts; record and multimedia Teaching procedures: Step 1: Free talk Lead-in: Quick answers Ask the students some greeting questions one by one and let them answer them quickly. Hi! Hello! Good morning/afternoon/evening/night! Goodbye! Bye-bye! Bye! What’s your name? You’re Millie, right? How are you? How old are you? Are you a doctor?... (Purpose: Review the greetings which we learned in this unit.) Revision: Yes or No questions Is our school big? Are you a boy? Is Mr. Chen in the office? Are you in Grade 7? Is Millie’s hair long? Is Millie good at swimming? (Purpose: Revise the grammar of last lesson and lead to the information of this lesson.) Step 2: Pre-reading a. Presentation Millie are happy to make some new friends. Let’s meet her new friends. Then take out the charts of Kitty, Amy, Yao Ming, Jack Zhou, and Meng Fei and present the five people one by one. Kitty and Amy: Read Part A1 and answer: Is Amy’s hair short? What about Kitty? What do they like doing? Yao Ming, Jack Zhou, and Meng Fei:Some questions about their hair and hobbies. (Purpose: Read in silence and catch the information we can learn before listening.) Learn the new words.
