In Memories of Peking: South Side Stories, Lin expresses strong feelings of homesickness, and also shows his concern about the living conditions of unprivileged persons in Peking. Memories of Peking: South Side Stories is not only a nostalgic novel, it also continues the new literature tradition of May Fourth when it is re-examined under the history of Taiwanese literature and the history of Chinese literature.
