T h is paper presents a conc ise introduction o f their historica,l c lassification o f chem ica l structure and action m echan ism. It a lso g ives a com prehensive in troduction to the research deve lopm ent o f new antipressants, inc luding selectiv e sero ton in reuptake inh ibito rs ( SSR I ) , serotonin reuptake accelerant, se lective serotonin and no rep inephrine reuptake inhibitors ( SNR I), norep inephrine and spec ial se ro ton in antidressant ( N aSSA ), norepinephrine and dopam ine reuptake inhibitors ( N DR Is), new reversib le m onoam ine ox idase inh ib itor, new tricy clic, nature and herba l antipressants.
