College of Chinese Language The College of Chinese Language of the Beijing Language and Culture University is a college responsible for the undergraduate education of international students and the program of Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL). The college trains and educates multidisciplinary professionals with the international vision and a good command of Chinese. Undergraduate Education of International Students The college began formal admission of students in 1978. At present, it has an enrollment of undergraduate international students of 1,400. The college practices an undergraduate program of 8 semesters, with admissions in spring and autumn, consummated with graduation field work and thesis. After development in the past 3 decades, a brand-new education pattern has come into being featuring 2 majors and 7 orientations: College of Chinese Language Major of Chinese Language and Literature Major of Chinese Language and Culture Chinese Language Chinese Language for Business and Trade Chinese -English Bilingual Studies Chinese-Japanese Bilingual Studies Japanese-Chinese Translation Korean-Chinese Translation Chinese Teaching The college applies an education mode featuring the integration of “language, humanities, disciplinary orientation, and field work”, with a grand curricular system consisting of 100 courses to provide international students with rich resources for learning. Up till now, the college has produced over 4,000 undergraduate students for more than 160 countries in the world. Of the teaching faculty of the undergraduate program of the major of the Chinese Language and Literature, over 85% hold doctoral or m
