[Keywords:] herpes zoster; acupuncture method; pricking blood therapy; Cupping Abstract Objective To observe the difference in the curative effect between plum-blossom needle therapy combined with cupping and intramuscular injection of interferon.Methods 120 cases with herpes zoster were randomly divided into 2 groups: observation group and control group, 60 in each; plum- blossom needle therapy combined with cupping was performed in observation group while intramuscular injection of interferon was given to patients in control group; the curative effects of the 2 groups were observed and compared.Result The cure rate in observation group was 85% while that in control group was 50%, the difference was of obvious significance. (P lt;0.05); the analgesia time, the time to stop vesiculation and the time for incrustation in observation group was much shorter than those in control group.Conclusions The curative effect of plum -blossom needle therapy combined with cupping for herpes zoster is superior to that of intramuscular injection of interferon.
