METHODS: Ninety two suicide attemptors were assessed by social support rating scale (SSRS), life event scale (LES) and Hamilton depression rating scale (HAMD) and psychiatric diagnosis was made. The results were individually matched with control population. RESULTS: Compared with control group, they had higher scores in LES and HAMD and lower scores of social support. The major factors for their suicidal behavior included negative life events, subjective social support and depression. CONCLUSION: Suicidal behaviors of suicide attemptors mostly result from interaction of internal and external factors. It is related with the psychosocial factors and individual constitutions. The suicide preventive efforts should focus on individuals exposed to multiple risk factors.
