Methods: 30 rats were randomly divided into 3 groups of 10 rats: sham operation group, model group, the curcumin group. Model group and the curcumin group lines on the right ureter ligation surgery, sham operation group only the free non-ligation. After the first 14 days in the rats were sacrificed in each group to detect blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatinine (Scr). Were measured by immunohistochemistry TGF-β 1, CTGF expression, while using Masson staining of renal pathology. Results: Curcumin reduces the BUN, Scr levels, while curcumin significantly reduced renal interstitial TGF-β 1, CTGF expression, and effectively improved the renal pathological damage. Conclusion: Curcumin can reduce ureteral obstruction TGF-β 1, CTGF expression, thereby improving the UUO-induced renal injury, suggesting that curcumin may have delayed the process of fibrosis in chronic kidney disease potential.
