Methods: One hundred and sixty cases of the first permanent molars in the mandibula were sealed by EST and CST. The preservation rate of the sealant was produced after a follow  up of 2 years. Result: The preservation rate of the sealant was 87.3% in the EST group and 63.7% in the CST group. Conclusion: EST is superior to CST in clinical effect.
