Method The clinical outcomes of 137 cases including 82 cases of patients with nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) and 55 cases of patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) were analyzed retrospectively. 78 cases were treated with integrative Chinese and Western medicine (ICW group) and 59 cases were treated only with western medicine (control group). The clinical efficacies of the two groups were evaluated respectively by fundus examination, fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA), and the clinical outcomes of the two groups were compared. Results The clinical effect of ICW Group was obviously superior to the control group in protection of retina and improving of fundus retinopathy, particularly in inhibition of retinal neovascularization.
