METHODS Total 30 patients with congenital heart diseases undergoing required cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) were randomly divided into the modified ultrafiltration (MUF) group and the conventional uitrafiltration (CUF) group. The dosage of bank blood and plasma, and the change of HCT were observed during the operation. The results were analyzed by SSPS / PC software. RESULTS The dosage of bank blood and plasma were significantly less in the MUF group than the CUF group (P lt;0.01). The MUF group had a larger fluid removal compared with the CUF group (P lt;0.01). CONCLUSION MUF can reduce body fluid and raise HCT and reduce blood transfusion need, postoperative bleeding and bank blood requirement in infant
