 PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 11 Paranasal fungal sinusitis imaging diagnosis Paranasal fungal sinusitis is relatively rare, mainly caused by the aspergillus infection, followed by Mucor, there are other rare Candida, fungus spores, cryptococcosis and actinomycetes monocytogenes. Imaging studies can show fungal paranasal sinus morphological characteristics of inflammatory lesions, understanding disease location, extent and complications. I collect hospital in March 2001 -2009 period in June confirmed by surgery or clinical fungal paranasal sinusitis in 32 cases, and its X-ray film, CT, MRI imaging features were analyzed. 1 Materials and Methods A total of 32 patients in this group, including 14 males and 18 females. Aged 29-63 years, mean 41 years. X-rays taken place Valsalva sinuses, CT for the German Siemens company’s SOMATOM Emotion6 spiral CT scanners, slice thickness 4mm, spacing 4mm, with coronal scan, MRI produced using Siemens MAGNETOM C 0.35T magnetic resonance imaging system, thickness 4mm, spacing 1mm, T1WI, T2WI axial and coronal imaging. 2 Results Non-invasive fungal paranasal sinusitis of 30 cases, of which 28 cases involved the maxillary sinus, sphenoid sinus in 9 cases, 7 cases of ethmoid sinus, frontal sinus in 1 case. X-ray film showed higher density of paranasal sinus in 29 cases, bone growth sinus wall thick, hardened in 3 cases, CT showed soft tissue density paranasal sinus filled in 32 cases, 2 cases of irregular polypoid lesions scattered points within the chip or sand-like calcification in 27 cases, sinus wall thickening, sclerosis in 11 cases, CT scan lesions enhanced 23 patients with peripheral enhancement, heterogeneous enhancement in 6 patients, no enhancement in 1 case, MRI showed low signal T1WI showed 28 cases, 2 cases of such signal, T2WI showed low signal in 27 cases, the lesions showed low signal edge of T1WI, T2WI showed high signal 23 cases, MRI scan lesions enhanced peripheral enhancement in 24 cases, heterogen
