Methods A TLC method was used to qualitatively identify farrerol in dropping pills, the UV method was used to determine the content of total flavonoids in the pills. Results The spots on the TLC were distinct without interference of the negative control. The content of total flavonoids was 14.00%. The standard curve was 3.0 ~ 24.0μ g/ml, the average recovery of folium rhododendri daurici dropping pills was 99.68%, and RSD = 1.2% ( n = 6). Conclusion The method established in this paper for the qualitation of the farrerol and the determination of the total flavonoids are reliable, practical, and could be used in quality control.
