Methods embracing our department 31 cases of internal fixation in the treatment of multiple rib fractures, flail chest patients (1, 2006 months to December 2008 and 35 cases of patients with non-fixation (January 2003 ~ December 2005 were analyzed to compare the efficacy and complications of two groups of patients. Results fixation group except 1 with late-onset brainstem hemorrhage died, the rest were clinical cure, hospitalization time, pain perception, analgesic, ventilation time, pulmonary infection, atelectasis and other complications were significantly less than non-fixation group (P lt;0.05 . Conclusion memory alloy embracing fixator and internal fixation in treatment of multiple rib fractures, flail chest and internal fixation group than not, have a high clinical value. Methods The data in surgical treatment group (31 cases) and conservative treatment group (35 cases) were retrospectively analyzed and compared.Results In surgical group, 1 case died of tardive brain stem hemorrhage, and the other 30 cases were cured.The pulmonary infection , atelectasis, chest pain, analgesic consumption, length of stay, period of mechanical ventilation in surgical treatment group were obviously less than that in conservative treatment group (P lt;0.05). Conclusion Internal fixation is much better than other conservative therapies for flail chest and fracture of multiple ribs.It is recommended to perform operation positively for flail chest and fracture of multiple ribs using Ti Ni shape mem
