Teaching aim: Describe people’s looks (physical appearance)
Vocabulary
tall, medium, height, short, thin, build, heavy, hair, curly, straight, like, blonde, good-looking, beard, glasses
Target language
What does he look like? He is heavy and he wears glasses.
What does she look like? She is thin and she has long hair.
Important points:
In this unit students learn how to describe people’s looks.

A multimedia computer, a tape recorder
Teaching procedures:
Step 1. Warming-up
Students read the new words in Unit 7.
Greet the students as usual.
Discuss: What day is it today?
What’s the date today?
What’s the weather like today?
Step2. Lead-in and presentation
Learn the new words with pictures.
Step3.Guessing game
Show some pictures which are covered with pieces of paper and let the students guess what she/he looks like.
Step4. Summary
New words focus
Step5. Challenge
Have a memory competition.
Compare “is” with “has”.
Step6. Activity
Describe your classmate and let other classmates guess who
he/she is.
Step7.Homework
Write a passage about your favorite pop singer or movie star
or sport star.
