Module 8 Unit 1 Task
Skills Building: Listening for key words
Teaching aims:
Train students listening ability.
Help students know of the structure of a literary review.
Arouse students insterests in reading classics.
Teaching important and difficult points:
How to help the students to catch the key words by listening.
How to help students to find out the keys words in a review.

Teaching steps:
Step 1 Lead-in and revision
(Teacher asks the students to watch the filmYou are the apple of my eye before class.)
At the beginning, teacher asks the students to form two groups to have a competition. Then asks them to say something about the film or the novel.
(Show the questions on the screen.)
1.Where is it set?
(In 1994, Taiwan.)
2.Who are the main characters in the film?
(Shen Jiayi and Ke Jingteng.)
3.What is the theme of the film?
(Friendship and calf / puppy love. )
4.Whats the symbol in it?
(An apple.)
5.Can you describe the plot of the film in a few sentences?
(Ke Jingteng is a naughty student. His teacher asks the best student in the class Shen Jiayi to help him with his study. With her help, Ke Jingteng makes greater progress gradually. At the same time, the boy falls in love with the girl. But the girl doesnt want her life to be interrupted.)
Teacher says: Please pay attetion to the words in red. Those are the five elements that we should keep in mind when reading a story or a novel. Or we can call these words Key words in the questions. And today we are to learn something about them. Please turn to page10. Read the guidelines and tell me how to listen for key words.

Key words are often stressed.
