In the past two decades, joint models of longitudinal and survival data have received much attentionintheliterature.Thesemodelsareoftendesirableinthefollowingsituations: isurvival models with measurement errors ormissing data intime-dependent covariates, iilongitudinal models with informative dropouts, and iii a survival process and a longitudinal process are associated vialatentvariables. Inthesecases,separateinferencesbasedonthelongitudinal model and the survival model may lead to biased or ine?cient results. In this paper, we provide a brief overview ofjoint models for longitudinal and survival data and commonly used methods, including thelikelihood methodandtwo-stage methods. 1.Introduction Longitudinal data and survival data frequently arise together in practice.
