Thedivergingdiamondinterchange(DDI)canimprovetra?c?owbylimitingthenumberofphasesinthetra?csignalsand improvesafetybyeliminatingleftturns.Afewinstillationsoftheseinterchangeshavebeenconstructedandthereisgreatpotential toconstructmore.Inane?orttodevelopamethodologytoevaluatetheseinterchanges,thispaperpresentsthedevelopmentofa discreteeventsimulationmodelofthedivergingdiamondinterchange(DDI).Speci?cemphasisisonusingsimulationtomodel theDDI,adescriptionoftheoperationofthesimulationmodel,andusingsimulationtounderstandtheoperationoftheDDI.
