Anaplasticthyroidcancer(ATC)isanuncommonmalignancyofthethyroid.Only1-2%ofthyroidcancersareanaplastic,but thediseasecontributesto14–50%ofthemortalitywithamediansurvivalof3to5months.Mostpatientsdiagnosedwiththis diseaseare65yearsofageorolder.Theincidenceofanaplasticthyroidcancerisdecreasingworldwide.Mostpatientspresent witharapidlygrowingneckmass,dysphagia,orvoicechange.WeperformedacomprehensiveliteraturesearchusingPubMed focusingonthetreatmentofanaplasticthyroidcancerincludinghistoricalreviewoftreatmentandoutcomesandinvestigationsof newagentsandapproaches.Atotalofsixteenchartreviewandretrospectivestudiesandelevenprospectivestudiesand/orclinical trialswerereviewed.Thecurrentstandardtherapeuticapproachistoconsiderthediseaseassystemicattimeofdiagnosisand pursuecombinedmodalitytherapyincorporatingcytoreductivesurgicalresectionwherefeasibleand/orchemoradiationeither concurrentlyorsequentially.Doxorubicinisthemostcommonlyusedagent,witharesponserateof22%.Severalnewagentsar
