Onepossibleecologicalscenariofortheoriginofprimatesisthearchaicpollinationandcoevolutionhypothesis.Itsproponents contendthattheconsumptionofnectarbysomeearlyprimatesandtheresultingcross-pollinationisanexampleofcoevolution thatdroveadaptiveradiationsinsomeprimates.Thishypothesisisperhapsecologicallysound,butitlacksthemorphology- behaviorlinksthatwouldallowustotestitusingthefossilrecord.Hereweattempttoidentifycranialadaptationstonectarfeeding amongthestrepsirrhinesofMadagascarinordertoprovidesuchlinks.ManyMalagasystrepsirrhinesareconsiderede?ectivecross- pollinatorsofthe?owerstheyfeedfrom,andnectarconsumptionrepresentsasmuchas75%oftotalfeedingtime.Previousstudies identi?edskeletalcorrelatestonectarfeedinginthecraniaofnonprimatemammals;fromthese,ninecranialmeasurementswere chosentobethefocusofthepresentstudy.ResultsindicatethatCheirogaleus,Varecia,andEulemurmirrorothernectar-feeding mammalsinhavingelongatedcraniaand/ormuzzles.Thesestrepsirrhinesmightbee?ectivecross-pollinators,lendingsupportto thecoevolutionhypothesis. 1.Introduction [3,5,6].Nevertheless,competinghypothese
