Peribulbar block is commonly used for ocular posterior segment surgery. This work aimed to compare the e?cacy of using 12.5mmto25mmstandardneedlelengthinperformingsingleinjectionperibulbarblockforretinalsurgery.Peribulbarblockwas performedin120patientsusingeitherstandard25mmor12.5mm30Gneedle(insulinneedle).Whileapplyingdigitalpressure aroundtheneedlehub,8–10mLoflocalanestheticareinjected.Ocularmovementwasassessedat5and10minusingsimple akinesiascore(0–8).Ifafter10minscorewas1,supplementaryinjectionwasgiven.Visualanaloguescale(0–10)wasusedatthe endoftheproceduretoassesssurgeons’satisfactionandpatients’intraoperativepain.Nodi?erencesinakinesiascoreat510min (P=0.34and0.36,resp.).Initialvolumeinjectedwascomparablebetweengroups(P=0.31),howevertotalvolumeoflocalanes- thesiaandsupplementaryinjectionsweresigni?cantlyhigherin12.5mmgroup(P=0.03and0.01,resp.).Nodi?erenceasregard surgeons’satisfactionandpatients’intraoperativepain(P =1.0and0.18,resp.).Peribulbarblockwith12.5mmneedletogether withdigitalcompressionisasuitablealternative
