Background.RabbitskinmodelwasusedtotestskinirritationofthemostcommonlyusedcosmeticproductsinJimmatown, southwesternEthiopia.ThemostcommonlyusedcosmeticswereDove,Glysolid,College,TopSociety,FairandLovely,Nivea,Lux, Magicfruitworld,Solea,Bodytalk,Kris,Holly,Victoria,andSweetHeart.Methods.Intactandabradedrabbitskinsweretested forerythemaandedemaundershadeandundersunexposure.DraizePrimaryIrritationIndex(PII)wasusedtocalculateskin irritationofeachcosmetic.Cosmeticingredientswereanalyzedfromthelabels.ResultsandDiscussion.OnlyDovecreamcaused noskinirritationexceptforanabradedskinundersunexposurefor?veconsecutivedays.Ithasbeenidenti?edthatapplication ofcosmeticsonabradedskinundersunnyconditionworsenstheirritation.Cosmeticlabelsrevealedthatmostingredientsused inallproductswerethoserestrictedchemicalsduetotheiradversehealthe?ects.Conclusion.Thisstudyhasconcludedthatuseof cosmeticsunder
