Calculationsareperformedforbotha?attipandasquealertip.Thewingletisintheformofa?atextension,andisshapedinthe axialchorddirectiontohavethemaximumthicknessatthechordlocation,wherethepressuredi?erenceisthelargestbetweenthe pressureandsuctionsides.Forthe?attip,thepressure-sidewingletexhibitsasigni?cantreductionintheleakage?owstrength. Thelowheattransfercoe?cient“sweet-spot”regionislargerwiththepressure-sidewinglet,andlowerheattransfercoe?cients arealsoobservedalongthepressuresideoftheblade.Forthe?attip,thewingletreducestheheattransfercoe?cientlocallyby asmuchas30%,whiletheaverageheattransfercoe?cientisreducedbyabout7%.Inthepresenceofasquealer,theroleofthe wingletdecreasessigni?cantly,anda5%reductioninthepressurelosscoe?cientisachievedwiththewingletwithvirtuallyno reductionintheaverageheattransfercoe?cient.Ontheotherhand,thesuction-sidesquealerwithconstantwidthwingletshows lowerheattransfer(reductionof5.5%)andpressurelosscoe?cient(reductionof26%)thanitsbaselinecounterpart.
