Weinvestigatetherelationshipbetweenclimatechangeandhydratestabilityintwoperi-Antarcticareas:AntarcticPeninsulaand SouthChile.Weconsidertheseareasbecausethepolarandsubpolarareasarethemostsensitiveaboutglobalchange.Thezone, wherethemethanecanbeeasilyreleasedbyhydratemelting,istheshallowwater,thatis,inproximityoftheintersectionbetween theBSRandtheseabottom.Inordertosimulatethee?ectofclimatechangeonhydratestability,weconsiderthefollowing sevenscenariosforbothareas:presentenvironmentalcondition;seabottomtemperatureincrease/decreaseof1 Cwaterdepth ? increase/decreaseof100m;seabottomtemperatureandwaterdepthincrease/decreaseof1 Cand100m,respectively.Onthe ? basisofourresult,wecandrawtheconclusionthatthemodelingisausefultooltounderstandthee?ectoftheclimatechangeon hydratestability.Moreover,intheseareaswheretheseabottomtemperatureisin?uencedbytemperatureincrease,slidescouldbe easilytriggeredbyhydratedissociation. 1.Introduction Althoughtemperatureandpressurearethemaincontrolsin theformationofgashydratesandthethicknessofthehydrate stability zone, other factors such as gas chemistry and gas availabilitywill alsoalterthethicknessandlocationofthe hydratestabilityzone[5].Dissociationofhydratemaytrigger the sudden release of large amounts of methane through the ocean into the atmosphere, leading to accelerated climatewarming.Hydratedissociationandgasr
