ThispapersummarizestheanalysisresultsofthreePACTELexperiments,carriedoutwiththeadvancedthermal-hydraulicsystem computerCATHARE2codeasapartofthesecondworkpackageWP2(analyticalwork)oftheECproject“ImprovedAccident ManagementofVVERnuclearpowerplants”(IMPAM-VVER).ThethreeLOCAexperiments,conductedontheFinnishtest facilityPACTEL(VVER-440model),represent7.4%coldlegbreakswithcombinationofsecondarybleedandprimary bleed andfeedanddi?erentactuationmodesofthepassivesafetyinjection.Thecodewasusedforbothde?ningandanalyzingthe experiments,andtoassessitscapabilitiesinpredictingtheassociatedcomplexVVER-relatedphenomena.Thecoderesultsarein reasonableagreementwiththemeasurements,andtheimportantphysicalphenomenaarewellpredicted,althoughstillfurther improvementandvalidationmightbenecessary. 1.Introduction calculations, compared to the three PACTEL experiments.
