Cadherin-cateninadhesioncomplexesplayimportantrolesbyprovidingcell-celladhesionandcommunicationindi?erentorgan systems.Abnormalexpressionofcadherinadhesionmoleculesconstitutesacommonphenomenonincaninemammarycancer andhasbeenfrequentlyimplicatedintumourprogression.Thispapersummarizesthecurrentknowledgeoncadherin/catenin adhesion molecules (E-cadherin, β-catenin, and P-cadherin) in canine mammary cancer, focusing on the putative biological functionsandclinicalsigni?canceofthesemoleculesinthisdisease.Thispaperhighlightstheneedforfurtherresearchstudiesin thissettinginordertoelucidatetheroleoftheseadhesionmoleculesduringtumourprogressionandmetastasis. 1.Introduction sequencehomologyandstructure,celladhesionmolecules aredividedintothefollowingfamilies:cadherins,selectins, integrins,theimmunoglobulinsuperfamily,andlymphocyte homing receptors, such as CD44 [5].
