Methodology/Principal Findings: Viral genomes were sequenced and compared to two AHFV sequences available in GenBank.SequenceanalysesrevealedhighergeneticdiversitywithinAHFVsisolatedfromticksthanhumanAHFVisolates. ABayesiancoalescentphylogeneticanalysisdemonstratedanancientdivergenceofAHFVandKFDVofapproximately700 yearsago. Conclusions/Significance:Thehighsequencediversitywithintickpopulationsandthepresenceofcompetenttickvectors inthesurroundingregions,coupledwiththerecentidentificationofAHFVinEgypt,indicatepossibleviralrangeexpansion oralargergeographicrangethanpreviouslythought.ThedivergenceofAHFVfromKFDVnearly700yearsagosuggests otherAHFV/KFDV-likevirusesmightexistintheregionsbetweenSaudiArabiaandIndia.Giventhehumanmorbidityand mortalityassociatedwiththeseviruses,theseresultsemphasizetheimportanceofmo
