In contrast, KA-treated rats were differently affected. Sprague-Dawley KA-treated rats learned less efficiently than WistarKA-treatedanimals,whichperformedsimilartocontrolratsintheacquisitionandinaprobetrialtestingforspatial memory.Differentanxietylevelsandtheextensionofbrainlesionsaffectingthehippocampusandtheamydgalaconcur with spatial memory deficits observed in epileptic rats. Hence, our results suggest that hippocampal-dependent spatial memoryisnotnecessarilyaffectedinTLEandthatcomorbiditybetweenspatialdeficitsandanxietyismorerelatedwiththe underlyingbrainlesionsthanwiththeepi
