Methods:Mothers(n=103)andfathers(n=97)of115childrenyoungerthan16yearsoldparticipatedina population-basedsurvey.ThequestionnairecomprisedtheLifeOrientationTest,theOslo3-itemSocialSupport Scale,asinglequestionregardingperceivedsociallimitationbecauseofthechild’sdiabetes,theRelationship SatisfactionScaleanddemographicandclinicalvariables.Weinvestigatedassociationsbyusingregressionanalysis. Relatedtothesecondaimhypoglycemicevents,childage,diabetesduration,insulinregimenandcomorbid diseaseswereincludedascovariates. Results:ThemeanHbA1cwas8.1%,and29%hadHbA1c≤7.5%.Inmultipleregressionanalysis,lowerHbA1cwas associatedwithhighereducationandstrongerperceptionsofsociallimitationamongthemothers.Ahigherfrequencyof bloodglucosemeasurementwassignificantlyassociatedwithlowerHbA1cinbivariateanalysis.Higherchildagewas significantlyassociatedwithhigherHbA1cbothinbivariateandmultivariateanalysis.Ascatterplotindicatedthis associationtobelinear.
