Discussion:Whiletheimportanceofpreventingviralinfectioniswellestablished,preventivestrategieshavenot beenwellexplored.Goodpersonalhygiene,hand-washingandavoidanceofcigarettesmokearelikelytoreduce respiratoryviralinfections.Eatingahealthybalanceddiet,activeprobioticsupplementsandbacterial-derived products,suchasOM-85,mayreducerecurrentinfectionsinsusceptiblechildren.Therearenopracticalanti-viral therapiescurrentlyavailablethataresuitableforwidespreaduse. Summary:Handhygieneisthebestmeasuretopreventthecommoncold.Ahealthybalanceddiet,active probioticsupplementsandimmunostimulantOM-85mayreducerecurrentinfectionsinasthmaticchildren.
