MethodandResults:Thepurposeofthisreviewarticleistosummarisepublished 0Dand1Dmodelsofthecardiovascularsystem,toexploretheirlimitationsand rangeofapplication,andtoprovideanindicationofthephysiologicalphenomena thatcanbeincludedintheserepresentations.Thereviewon0Dmodelscollects togetherinoneplaceadescriptionoftherangeofmodelsthathavebeenusedto describethevariouscharacteristicsofcardiovascularresponse,togetherwiththe factorsthatinfluenceit.Suchmodelsgenerallyfeaturethemajorcomponentsofthe system,suchastheheart,theheartvalvesandthevasculature.Themodelsare categorisedintermsofthefeaturesofthesystemthattheyareabletorepresent, theircomplexityandrangeofapplication:representationsofeffectsincluding pressure-dependentvesselproperties,interactionbetweentheheartchambers, neuro-regulationandauto-regulationareexplored.Theexaminationon1Dmodels coversvariousmethodsfortheassembly,discretisationandsolutionofthe governingequations,inconjunctionwithareportofthedefinitionandtreatmentof boundaryconditions.Increasingly,0Dand1Dmodelsareusedinmulti-scalemodels,
