Abstract Background:Theexperienceinthenewbornintensivecarenurseryresultsinprematureinfants’neurobehavioral andneurophysiologicaldysfunctionandpoorerbrainstructure.Pretermswithsevereintrauterinegrowthrestriction aredoublyjeopardizedgiventheircompromisedbrains.TheNewbornIndividualizedDevelopmentalCareand AssessmentProgramimprovedoutcomeatearlyschool-ageforpretermswithappropriateintrauterinegrowth.It alsoshowedeffectivenesstoninemonthsforpretermswithintrauterinegrowthrestriction.Thecurrentstudy testedeffectivenessintoschool-ageforpretermswithintrauterinegrowthrestrictionregardingexecutivefunction (EF),electrophysiology(EEG)andneurostructure(MRI). Methods:Twenty-three9-year-oldformergrowth-restrictedpreterms,randomizedatbirthtostandardcare(14 controls)ortotheNewbornIndividualizedDevelopmentalCareandAssessmentProgram(9experimentals)were assessedwithstandardizedmeasuresofcognition,achievement,executivefunction,electroencephalography,and magneticresonanceimaging.Theparticipatingchildrenwerecomparabletothoselosttofollow-up,andthe controlstotheexperimentals,intermsofnewbornbackgroundhealthanddemographics.Alloutcomemeasures werecorrectedformother’sintelligence.Analysistechniquesincludedtwo-groupanalysisofvarianceandstepwise discriminateanalysisfortheoutcomemeasures,Wilks’lambdaandjackknifedclassificationtoascertaintwo-group classifi
