Methods:Thepresentworkfocusedontheserumproteomicanalysisof36healthyvolunteersand37breast cancerpatientsusingaClinProtKitcombinedwithmassspectrometry(MS).Thisapproachallowsthedetermination ofpeptidomepatternsthatareabletodifferentiatethestudiedpopulations.Anindependentgroupofsera(36 healthyvolunteersand37breastcancerpatients)wasusedtoverifythediagnosticcapabilitiesofthepeptidome patternsblindly.Animmunoassaymethodwasusedtodeterminetheserummucin1(CA15-3)ofvalidationgroup samples. Results:SupportVectorMachine(SVM)Algorithmwasusedtoconstructthepeptidomepatternsforthe identificationofbreastcancerfromthehealthyvolunteers.Threeoftheidentifiedpeaksatm/z698,720and1866 wereusedtoconstructthepeptidomepatternswith91.78%accuracy.Furthermore,thepeptidomepatternscould differentiatethevalidationgroupachievingasensitivityof91.89%(34/37)andaspecitivityof91.67%(33/36)(CA 15–3,P0.05). Conclusions:TheseresultssuggestthattheClinProtKitcombinedwithMSshowsgreatpotentialityforthe diagnosisofbreastcancer.
