Alterationsinmechanismsofplasticityhavebeenfurtherproposedtounderlievariouspsychiatricdisorders,but theroleofKv4.2inanxietyordepressionisnotwellunderstood. Methods:Inthispaper,weanalyzedthephenotypeKv4.2knockoutmicebasedontheirneurologicalfunction,on abatteryofbehaviorsincludingthoserelatedtoanxietyanddepression,andonplasticity-relatedlearningtasks. Results:Wefoundanovelty-inducedhyperactivephenotypeinknockoutmice,andthesemicealsodisplayed increasedreactivitytonovelstimulussuchasanauditorytone.Noclearanxiety-ordepression-relatedphenotype wasobserved,noranyalterationsinlearning/plasticity-basedparadigms. Conclusions:WedidnotfindclearevidenceforaninvolvementofKv4.2inneuropsychiatricorplasticity-related phenotypes,buttherewassupportforaroleinKv4.2indampeningexcitatoryresponsestonovelstimuli.
