TariJTurner1,2*,HayleyBarnes3,JaneReid2,MarieGarrubba2 Abstract Background:Itisimportantthathealthcareprovidedincrisissettingsisbasedonthebestavailableresearch evidence.Wereviewedguidelinesforchildandperinatalhealthcareincrisissituationstodeterminewhetherthey werebasedonresearchevidence,whetherCochranesystematicreviewswereavailableintheclinicalareas addressedbytheseguidelinesandwhethersummariesofthesereviewswereprovidedinEvidenceAid. Methods:Broadinternetsearcheswereundertakentoidentifyrelevantguidelines.Guidelineswereappraisedusing AGREEandtheclinicalareasthatwererelevanttoperinatalorchildhealthwereextracted.WesearchedThe CochraneDatabaseofSystematicReviewstoidentifypotentiallyrelevantreviews.Foreachreviewwedetermined howmanytrialswereincluded,andhowmanywereconductedinresource-limitedsettings. Results:Sixguidelinesmetselectioncriteria.Noneoftheincludedguidelineswereclearlybasedonresearch evidence.198Cochranereviewswerepotentiallyrelevanttotheguidelines.Thesereviewspredominantly addressednutrientsupplementation,breastfeeding,malaria,maternalhypertension,prematurelabourand preventionofHIVtransmission.Mostreviewsincludedstudiesfromdevelopingsettings.Howeverforlargeportions oftheguidelines,particularlyhealthservicesdelivery,therewerenorelevantreviews.Only18(9.1%)reviewshave summariesinEvidenceAid. Conclusions:Wedidnotidentifyanyevidence-basedguidelinesforperinatalandchildhealthcareindisaster settings.WefoundmanyCochranereviewsthatcouldcontributetotheevidence-basesupportingfuture guidelines.Howeverthereareimportantissuestobeaddressedintermsoftherelevanceoftheavailablereviews andincreasingthenumberofreviewsaddressinghealthcaredelivery.
