The Standards and Inspiration of Early Childhood Teacher
Education in America

Abstract:Its an essential w ork to set the standards for early childhood teacher education.The National A ssociation for
the Education of Young Children in America has made the standards for early childhood professional preparation and pro-
posed fi e key criterions:firstly, to promote children de elopment and learning;secondly, to build relationships be-
tween family and community;thirdly, to obser e, document and assess the measures that support young children and
their families;fourthly, to ha e the know ledge and ability for teaching and learning acti ities;fifthly, to become a pro-
fessional.The National Association for the Education of Young Children in America has also proposed the criterions of
general knowledge fields.In order to meet the needs of early childhood education in our country, we should set special
standards for early childhood teacher education as soon as possible.The America standards of early childhood teacher edu-
cation ha e just offered reference for us.
