METHODS :By a retrospective analysis ，the medical records of 133 neurosurgical patients who had been discharged between Jan . to Apr . in 2009 were analyzed with regard to the use of antibiotics. RESULTS :The rate of antimicrobial use was 99. 25 % . The antibiotics consisted of 8 categories and 18 kinds. In terms of DDDs ，cephalosporins took the lead ，followed by fusidic acid and vancomycin . Cephalosporin plus fusidic acid and cephalosporins plus vancomycin were the common drug combinations. CONCLUSION :The use of antibiotics in hospitalized children in neurosurgical ward of our hospital is far from perfect and thus remaining to be improved further .
