Butw ith the shallow seism ic refraction method, the terrane velocity nearby the deep buried tunnel portal cou ld not be obtained because of the lmi itations of the theory and the hypocenter energy source. In thatw ay, therew as no enough evidence to sort the surround ing rock. So, it is necessary and urgent to do the research on sorting the surrounding rock w ith the technology of telluric electrom agnetic sounding. Research conclusions: There are some very big lmi itations for getting the p - w aves of the surround ing rock of deep buried tunnelw ith the shallow seism ic refraction method. Therefore, the telluric electromagnetic sound ing sound ing has become themajor method for raiwl ay geological exploration. U sing the telluric electromagnetic sounding can effectively distinguish the resistivity and its outcomes can be as the basis to judge the integrity of surround ing rock, so it is feasible to use the telluric electromagnetic sound ing to sort the surround ing rock. ey words: telluric electromagnetic sounding; resistivity; raiwl ay survey;
