Water samples were respectively taken from their water outlets of high-speed handpiece in three different times, 7:30, 11:30 and 17:30.7:30 is the time after sterilization with 700 mg / L sodium hypochlorite .11:30 is the time after semi-day’s therapy ,and 17:30 is the time after the finish of the daily clinical work. Then,Colony-Forming Units(CFU) were counted．The data were analyzed by generalized estimating equation with SPSS 19.0 software.Results The CFU of water samples from different time were different.The difference between them was statistically significant(P0.05). No microorganisms were checked in samples of 7:30.Both of the other times’ samples were discovered microorganisms.And, the CFU observed in samples of 17:30 were more than that of 11:30.Conclusion This study confirmed that sodium hypochlorite has a good effect on DUWLs infection control.However, during the use of the dental unit,the waterlines were contaminated, and can not cater for the requirements of exodontia which should be a aseptic operation.Therefore,it is necessary to apply another cooling water system for high speed handpiece in minimally invasive exodontia.
