Introduction
Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) is the proactive and non-punitive use of digital flight data from routine operations to improve aviation safety. It has been established in the fixed wing world for some time and is known by several names, including Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA). For some rotary wing operations in the UK, the system is known as the Helicopter Operational Monitoring Programme (HOMP). This paper offers an example of minimum criteria for a Helicopter Flight Data Monitoring System (HFDM).
