Ltd ., Shanghai 201900, China Abstract An analysis of the 547 patents in the field of steel pipe in orbit patent database applied by NSSMC in China shows that the number of the patents applied is on the rise , its patent portfolio largely covers pipe-making technology , seamless steel pipe , threaded joint and pipe-making equipment , its downstream patents are mainly OCTG and pipes for electric power , the quality of its patents is high as opposed to that of Chinese companies and that Val ­ lourec is its important cooperative partner . The present article mainly analyzes the trend of the change in the number of the patents concerning seamless steel pipes and threaded joints and the ranking of the experts in this field , with a view to providing a reference for the steel pipe enterprises in China .
