ABSTRACT Compared with 2D images, stereo images can give people a more immersive experience and telepresence. While Stereo image bring people visual impact, its comfort is attracting more and more attention. Horizontal parallax is one of important factors that affect 3D images comfortableness. If the stereo image parallax is greater than specific value, people will feel very uncomfortable, When parallax is more than Panum range, diplopia will appear and people will even vomit. So the horizontal parallax scope of 3D images should be within specific range. However, the scope of stereo images parallax comfort has not yet been determined, so the 3D images comfort influence and comfort scope of horizontal parallax is particularly urgent. We use 3D images of different horizontal parallax as stimulate signals, record the EEG signals and extract the ERP information of 3D images: We also record behavioral data of comfort experience of the 3D images and calculate their comfort detection rate. EEG analysis result shows that no matter in the case of crossed or uncrossed horizontal parallax, comfort range of 3D images horizontal parallax is within 45 arc min. When horizontal parallax is from 45 arc min to 75 arc min, the ERP amplitude of around 280 ms is associated with the discomfort level of crossed parallax 3D images and the amplitude of around 250 ms is related to the discomfort level of uncrossed parallax 3D images; Detection rate curve and subjective evaluation results show that comfort range of 3D images horizontal parallax is within 45 arc min.
