ABSTRACT Since Chinas accession to the World Trade Organization in 2001, rapid development of foreign trade has promoted rapid economic growth in Jiangsu province. The rapid growth of export trade is an important factor in promoting the growing of energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Experience has shown that the phenomenon of excessive growth of investment in Jiangsu province and a lot of high energy consumption and high emission industries is driven by blind capacity expansion and export trade; in order to reduce their energy consumption and exhaust emissions, developed countries pass on the production process of these high energy consumption and high emission. Therefore, the estimation of CO2 emissions, and the structure of export commodities in the export trade in Jiangsu Province has an important impact on the rational use of energy as well as carbon reduction targets.
