Abstract
Hydropower as a clean and renewable energy ,has good prospects in our country.
By the end of 2010,installed capacity of electric system has amounted to two hundred
million kilowatts. 1/3 of them are friendly to the environment, which is the strongly
recommended small hydropower stations in the world and play an important role in
the adjustment of energy structure in China. The technology of waterpower and
Hydropower has been improved greatly, which has reached the international advanced
level. However, when we develop hydropower with great effort, we must be aware of
the environmental pressure it brings to us. Attention should be paid to important effect
of Environmental Impact Assessment System in the hydropower development. Only if
the system is implemented, The development of our countrys hydropower could be
sustainable.
Environmental Impact Assessment System is legal means to control
environmental pollution and ecological damage at the source,the implement of
Environmental Impact Assessment Law has an irreplaceable effect on promoting the
rational distribution of industry , optimized choice of enterprises site and the
prevention of potential environmental pollution and destruction caused by the
development and construction of the hydropower. Hydropower is a clean, renewable
energy, encouragement of the development of hydropower is an inevitable choice in
terms of the share of hydropower in all the energy and the energy structure . The
