We Innovate Healthcare * * 1 1 16 This slide shows the evolution of the Roche PCR instrument platforms. The first standardized infectious disease assays were run in Microtiter plate format. The work was semiautomated using the thermal cyclers for amplification and mictotiter plate handlers for the washing of the plates. All reagent addiditons and sample prep were done manually. This instrument automated the amplification and detection phases of PCR. The AMPLIPREP, introduced in 2000 completes the process and offers laboratorians the opportunity to automate all phases of PCR. To respond to customers needs for broader dynamic ranges and faster turn around times, the COBAS TaqMan is introduced.
