Ernest Miller Hemingway Early life World War I Spanish Civil War World War Ⅱ Later years Suicide Early life was born on July 21, 1899, in Cicero, the first son and the second child. Hemingway was his namesake. World War I against his fathers wishes, tried to see action in World War I. joined the Red Cross Ambulance Corps. Spanish Civil War Hemingway moved in 1931 to Key West, Florida, where he established his first American home. Over the next 9 years, until the end of this marriage in 1940,he wrote many works in this house. Spanish Civil War In 1937, Hemingway traveled to Spain in order to report on the Spanish Civil War. Spanish Civil War While there, Hemingway broke his friendship with John Dos Passos. Meanwhile, some health problems characterized this period of his life. He lost his beloved wife and married again. Suicide in the spring of 1961, Hemingway attempted suicide,but failed. and then received ECT(Electroconvulsive therapy)treatment .
