Queries about the “theory of fusion” of Chinese and western sports cultures

Abstract: The authors raises a few queries about two views of the “theory of fusion” of Chinese and western sports
culture popular in the academic community today, and drew the following conclusions: since there is a huge differ-
ence and development form unbalance in value conception, expression form and cultural adaptability between Chi-
nese and western sports cultures, it is impossible for the two cultures to fuse; for comparing Chinese and western
sports cultures, the research frame of dualistic opposition and either-or should be broken, so that the two cultures
can develop in their own areas in parallel; at present, China should vigorously learn western sports culture and de-
velop the Olympic movement; in the mean time, the protection of traditional Chinese national sports should be
strengthened.
